PHOENIX SPORT – 7th June 2025

Another busy afternoon of sport saw a superb late comeback from Hull Kingston Rovers at Wembley, who lifted the Rugby League Challenge Cup, as a late comeback saw them beat Warrington Wolves 8-6 at Wembley, after they were trailing 6-2 with just minutes to go.

In Tennis, we saw the American women’s world number two Coco Gauff beat the current world number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus in the women’s singles final of the French Open, whilst in Horse Racing, 13-2 ranked Lambourn – trained by Ireland’s Aidan O’Brien – was the winner of the 2025 Epsom Derby.

In Cricket, England Women were on their way to a .clean sweep of victories at Taunton in their one day international series against the West Indies, whilst in football England men put in a less than impressive shift in their World Cup qualifier against minnows Andorra at the RCDE Stadium in Barcelona, a Harry Kane goal five minutes into the second half proving to be the only difference between the two sides.
