Is it Real? Or is it a Sausage Roll?

Madame Tussauds in London, renowned for showcasing British cultural icons like Sir David Attenborough and the Prince and Princess of Wales, is adding an unexpected figure to its collection: the Greggs sausage roll.

Though modest in size, the waxwork required hours of meticulous craftsmanship to capture every detail of the beloved pastry. The quirky sculpture will debut on Thursday at the museum’s Baker Street location, where it will be on display for the remainder of the month.

Also on today’s show –

Martin’s Choice – My song request for this week is by an American singer songwriter and Guitarist

Don McLean. Born October 2nd 1945 in New York. He is best known for his 1971 hit “American Pie” an eight and a half minute folk rock song which has been referred to as a cultural touchstone! This song was inspired partly by the deaths of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper in a plane crash in 1959 hence the lyric line in the song “The Day The Music Died” which refers to the crash.

The song launched him into the big time and the single sold millions of copies worldwide.

He also wrote some other big hits like “Vincent” about the artist Vincent Van Gogh and he also wrote the song “And I Love You So” which was recorded by artists such as Elvis Presley, Perry Como, Shirley Bassey and Glen Campbell to name but a few.

The song I’m going to request was originally recorded on his first album in 1971 but he re-recorded it in 1981 and had a big hit with it, the song is called “Castles In The Air” a proverb which means Plans and dreams that have very little chance of happening!

The song describes a man who is unsatisfied and weary of his urban lifestyle although native to the city. He decides to forsake urban life but also his love interest because of his love of a country life and to seek a romance with a like minded woman.

On a personal note the song reminds me of a time when things in my life were not too Rosy! fortunately my plans did work out and I’ve moved on but this song reminds me of those times. Hope you enjoy.
