Manager and defenders celebrate their team’s treble-winning season

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

It’s such a busy time of year for local sport – especially as we come to the end of the football season – that we had to have an extra sports show on Saturday just to cover it all.

Andy Gardener presented an extra two hours of local sport, welcoming in Hutton FC Ladies manager Darren Stacey plus defenders Phoebe Keys and Izzy Crichton.

Hutton FC Ladies are celebrating an historic treble of league, Essex Trophy and League Plate. Andy had a deep dive through their incredible season, which culminated in three trophies in a fortnight, clinching the Eastern Region Division One title on April 27, the Essex Women’s Trophy on the 30th (on penalties v Brentwood Town) and the League Plate on May 11th (4-0 v Chelmsford City).

If that wasn’t all, Hutton also reached the FA Cup 1st round for the first time, narrowly losing to the higher tier Luton Town who also went on to win their division. That was Hutton’s last defeat in any competition and that was played last November!

Andy discussed all of the club’s recent successes, plus the future, departing players, the pathway in to the first team in which Izzy is a perfect example of and even the UK’s Eurovision Song Contest entry!

Hutton will be parading all three trophies in their final fixture of the season at Hannakins Farm, Billericay on Sunday May 25th (kick off 2pm).

The team are looking for a kit sponsor, player sponsors, new players and a physio for the new 2025/26 season. If interested contact the club via social media – they are on Instagram @huttonfc.ladies. And you can hear Andy’s interview again at phoenixfm.com too.
