Temperatures are currently expected to peak at 28C (82F) on Thursday – 1 May – That would mark the hottest April weather for seven years.
The warmth will be accompanied by dry conditions and sunshine bringing high UV and pollen levels.
High pressure has become established close to the UK, blocking the progress of rain-bearing weather systems with the jet stream diverted away from our shores.
As that area of high pressure drifts slowly eastwards it is opening the door to a feed of south or south-easterly winds, bringing warm air from continental Europe.
Almost all areas, away from the far north of Scotland, will get into the twenties Celsius.

Martin’s Choice I’m going to feature American soulful Jazz singer Gregory Porter.
Born November in 1971 in Sacramento California. His Mother was a minister and was a large influence on his life and encouraged him to sing at church from an early age.
He began singing in small jazz clubs in San Diego while on a football scholarship but Unfortunately he suffered an injury which put an end to his football career. He moved to New York where he worked as a chef in a restaurant where he also performed, singing with a band and also performed at other venues in New York.
He made his first album in 2010 winning much acclaim, he then went on to make seven albums up to present. He won Grammy awards for two of them For best Jazz vocals.
He is now a worldwide Jazz artist who has been able to cross the divide between Jazz and popular music on the radio. He performs all over the world now and has a massive following in the UK.
He’s had many appearances on TV and sell out concerts including Glastonbury festival. Although he has had many big hits I’m going to pick a track from his album All Rise. The track is called Concorde, It’s unusual as it’s about the Airplane of the same name! He wrote the song on a long flight while on tour. He enjoys travelling but always looks forward to getting home to his family as quickly as he can, and the thought of being able to travel at twice the speed of sound through the stratosphere was of great interest to him!
