PHOENIX SPORT – 26th April 2025

An incredibly busy show this week, loads going on and at the ‘business end’ of the football season, we had reports on massive games for two of our local teams.

Leyton Orient took a huge step towards securing a spot in the Sky Bet League One play-offs, as a goal from Randell Williams gave them a 1-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers at Brisbane Road.

But in our featured non-League game, there was great disappointment for Billericay Town.

Gary McCann and his side went into the final day of the season at the top of the Isthmian Premier League, but with Horsham and Dartford level with them on points.

In front of an expectant capacity crowd of over 3300 fans at New Lodge, Billericay got off to the worst possible start as their visitors Cheshunt went into a 2-0 lead with only 17 minutes played.

The hosts recovered to win 4-2, but one of their promotion rivals Horsham beat Hashtag United by five goals to one, meaning the Sussex side won the title because Billericay finished up one goal behind them on goal difference, so now the Blues have to go through the lottery of the play-offs to acheive their aim of a return to the National League South next season after three years away.
