Tudor characters Mary Carew and Lady Anne Petre came to the studio ahead of the Tudor weekend at Ingatestone Hall. Rebecca Reynolds was Mary, sister of the Dean of Canterbury, Nicholas Wotton. Glynis Riddle, as the goodwife of Lord William Petre was host  to the gathering at the recently finished building of Ingatestone Hall.  They expect to be joined by around fifteen more re-enactors. Visitors to the Hall are strongly encouraged to ask questions. The event celebrates a Fayre being held at the Hall in 1555 where the poor of Ingatestone had somewhere to ply their trades and bring a little joy into their lives. Opening times 11am – 5pm Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of April. Admission adults £10.40, Pensioners £8.40. Children £5.25. Under 5s free.

Zoe Jay from Helen Rollason Cancer charity talked about Ride for Helen 2025. Starting at Hatfield Peverel, there are set routes between 6  – 100 miles. All money raised through sponsorship goes towards supporting this charity which is dedicated to enabling quality life whilst living with cancer. They are hopeful of having 700 riders and 50 marshals across the routes. Find more information about the charity and the ride click on the Home link below.

Zoe also told us that at the moment they are working with 1,300 clients. An unexpected consequence of the pandemic had been that counselling is now offered via zoom for those who for whatever reason do not want to travel to one of the centres.
