Island Life in Essex? £25 Million

An island in Essex is on sale – and expected to go for more than £25 million
Osea Island in the Blackwater Estuary near Maldon in Essex is owned by music producer Nigel Frieda and it’s where Stormzy wrote an album
The 380-acre private estate has also been rented by the singer Rihanna and used as a film location.
The estate agent listing the island, which is cut off at high tide, said there had already been a lot of interest.

Also on today’s show –

Back in January a new, rediscovered track from the late Tina Turner made its public debut. I’ve only just caught up with it!

The QE2 Bridge at the Dartford Crossing will close for a short period this month. The closure is for “routine safety inspections and maintenance”. It will be shut from 10pm on Saturday, April 26 until 5am on Sunday, April 27.

Clodagh Rodgers, who represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1971, has died at the age of 78.

Birthdays and Anniversaries

1952 – Narada Michael Walden, American singer-songwriter, drummer, and producer

1985 – Coca-Cola changes its formula and releases New Coke. The response is overwhelmingly negative, and the original formula is back on the market in less than three months.

2005 – The first YouTube video, titled “Me at the zoo”, was published by co-founder Jawed Karim.

Martin’s Choice  This week I’m going to request a song by the band America !

A British American rock band formed in London in 1970 by English born Dewey Burnell and Americans Dan Peek and Gerry Beckley. The trio met as sons of US Airforce personnel stationed in London in the 1970s. They began performing live achieving significant popularity in the 70s

The group were famous for its close vocal harmonies and acoustic folk rock songs. They released a string of Albums, which had hits like A Horse With No Name and Ventura Highway.

Most of their albums were recorded in London and produced by George Martin of The Beatles Fame.

The group achieved many awards including Grammys for best new artists and best new pop group, they were also inducted  into the vocal group of the year in 2006 and received a star on the Hollywood walk of fame in 2012.

Dan Peek one of the original members passed away in 2011 but the other two founder members still record and tour to this day.

The song I have chosen is You Can Do Magic. The song was released in 1982 and was a top 10 hit for the band after a period of some decline in their commercial fortunes during those times.

Hope you enjoy.
