Archdeacon Jonathan talked through the drama of Holy week. Palm Sunday presented the excited crowd showing they expected Jesus to overthrow the Roman occupiers. Jesus had a different kind of kingdom in mind. He was riding a donkey. Palms will be being waved in many churches and some will even have a donkey. For example, there will a procession in Brentwood High Street organised by St Thomas church. A donkey will be leading the procession around the grounds of Chelmsford Cathedral. Jonathan spoke of the human betrayal of Jesus by a friend at the Last Supper and that maybe there have been times when we have felt let down. Good Friday had a resonance for us all with living through dark times. For the disciples this was the execution of Jesus. The joy of Easter day with Jesus having over-come death is at the very heart of the Christian faith. There will be joyous celebrations in all churches.
