Now looking at the news these days I have increasingly come to the conclusion that the governance of at least some countries, seem to have gone completely loopy.
That being the case as I guess I shouldn’t be that surprised by news just in from Akron, Ohio in the USA of reports of a man trying to break into a mental institution.
Note here, it was not one of the inmates trying to get out and make a run for it, but someone trying to get in!
Responding to reports of a man spotted clambering across the roof of the asylum, police were forced to use a drone to locate the 29-year old individual, who in his efforts to effect his illegal entry into the facility, later managed the feat of getting himself wedged in a chimney.
In the end firefighters had to be called into service to free the man from his self imposed prison.
He was later charged with trespass and attempted burglary, but there is no suggestion that he might be committed himself!
Later in today’s show, I was joined by Margaret Mills who took us back to the year 1897 when the country was busy celebrating the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria.
And indeed like the rest of the country celebrations were in full swing across our county but a big unwelcome surprise arrived on the 24th June, when a tornado hit.
Ingatestone was particularly badly affected but the storm swooped across the county and finally died away just past Colchester, producing damages totalling some £100,000 – a huge amount in those days, made worse since insurance would have been existent back then.
If you missed what Margaret told me, you can listen again here: –
I very much look forward to seeing you once again next week,
Scott
