Leyton Orient return to action at Brisbane Road this afternoon for the final Saturday 3pm kick-off of the season, as they take on Wigan Athletic. The O’s will look to bounce-back from Tuesday nights disappointing loss against relegation threatened Burton Albion. Wigan’s safety is still yet to be decided and Orient have an outside chance of the play-offs. It sets up an interesting encounter.
th min: After a quiet first opening eight minutes, Dan Agyei wins Orient a corner as his cross comes off a Wigan defender. However, the corner comes to nothing.
th min: Good possession by Orient is rewarded with another corner. Won by Dan Agyei. After the corner is cleared the O’s recycle the ball well and it finds Tom James who strikes at goal but his shot balloons over the bar.
th min: Wigan’s first attack in the Orient half is cut-out well by Tom James as a cross is fired in from the left hand side.
th min: Good defending from Wigan as Dan Agyei seems to be through on-goal, however, the defender does well to get a tackle in on Orient’s number seven.
th min: Dan Agyei wins Orient another corner as he’s played in by Markanday as his shot is blocked. The corner comes to nothing as Galbraith blazes a shot over the bar.
th min: Orient have had a good sustained amount of possession and look the more likely to open the scoring. The referee hasn’t seemed to give Orient much today though, as Azeem Abdulai seemed to be fouled but the ref gives nothing.
nd min: Marakanday wins Orient another corner, to be taken by the man himself. His low balls causes havoc, but Wigan manage to clear.
th min: Orient with all the possession but no cutting edge. It’s been a poor game so far.
th min: Randell Williams run in behind causes problems and his cross is blocked for another corner. Which comes to nothing.
nd min: Tom James puts in a great ball which is sniffed out well by Galbraith as he brings the ball down on his chest, but his volley drags wide. First real opportunity to score I’d say of the match.
th min: Dilan Markanday wins the O’s a free-kick just outside the box. He goes on a great run before being brought down. Tom James to take… it hits the wall. Was going in though. The wall done it’s job.
th: Wigan have their second spell of the game. However, Orient captain Brandon Cooper does really well to jockey out the Wigan striker and clear the resulting cross.
st min: Jack Currie does really well to beat a few Wigan players but his cross is met by no one in the box. Real shame.
nd: Marakanday runs at the Wigan defence but overplays his through-ball to Randell Williams. Just not clicking for Orient at the moment.
Half-time: Leyton Orient 0-0 Wigan Athletic
th min: Ladies and gentleman a game of football has arrived. Agyei puts in a great cross but Randell Williams can’t get his body round the ball with the cross eventually being cleared to Jack Currie who’s shot is just about tipped over for a a corner. The ref blows for a foul when the corner comes in.
mins: Tom James and Sean Clare are both down injured as Wigan’s strikers put in big challenges. Tom James is booked for walking off the pitch too slowly as he comes off injured. That is very poor refereeing, needless.
mins: Randell Williams cuts inside and lets fly but his shot it well saved by Tickle in the Wigan net.
th mins: Jack Currie puts in a great ball but his cross is deflected wide for a corner. Which comes to nothing.
st minute: Dan Agyei lets fly from twenty-five yards and Tickle does well to parry out for a corner.
rd min: Brandon Cooper sniffs out a high-ball but his header loops over the bar.
th: Randell Williams is taken out but the referee doesn’t give anything. This has been one of the worst referee performances I’ve seen in a long time.
th: Big chance for the O’s as Currie’s shot meets Azeem Abdulai but he can’t get his flick on target and it goes just wide.
th min: The ref finally gives Orient a free-kick. As Galbaith is sliced down just outside the box. Galbraith takes, but it hits the wall.
th min: Donley is on and instantly creates a chance. He puts in a great cross but Dan Happe spoons his shot over the bar.
st min: Wigan putting the pressure on now, Orient defending deep and getting blocks and interceptions in.
st min: Orient’s biggest chance of the game as DJ has his shot saved on the line from Tickle. Great ball in by Marakandy. Seconds later Donley strikes from distance from the resulting clearance but it fires wide of the post.
th minute: Tickle punches an Orient cross away and then catches another. Still all to play for well into the last ten minutes of the half.
th min: Jack Currie wins the O’s a corner. Tickle punches clear and DJ’s volley goes to mars.
th min: Somehow the ball doesn’t go in the net. Donley gets a flick on at the front post from a corner and Happe can’t put it in.
Full-time – Leyton Orient 0-0 Wigan Athletic.
