Adolescence

Critics have heaped praise on the hard-hitting drama Adolescence, with many calling it a landmark TV show.

The four-part British series was released last week and is the most-watched show on Netflix around the world over the weekend.

Adolescence is distinguished by its innovative filming technique: each episode is shot in one continuous, unflinching shot, creating a relentless and immersive viewing experience

I thought it was very thought provoking and disturbing. How social media and bullying can put a whole new level of pressure on young people and how they deal with it. It’s a world many parents don’t understand. It was that and a lot more too.

It was incredible – technically and acting wise. The young actor Owen Cooper was amazing. It’ll get piled high with awards. I think the best TV should disturb you in some way and this could do a bit of good in raising awareness too.

Catch it if you can….

Also on today’s show –

Stevie Wonder has been named as the final headliner for this year’s BST Hyde Park festival.

The last surviving Battle of Britain pilot, John “Paddy” Hemingway, has died at the age of 105.

An auctioneer stumbled across what he described as a “once in a lifetime” collection of cars while clearing a man’s estate.

It’s just over 2 weeks to the London landmark half marathon and regular listener Sandie Duffy is currently in training for the run in support of Alzheimers research

Backtrack – Jess Glynne – Right Here

Hi Bob, I’ve brought things right up to date this week. A band from North London called Ezra Collective.

This group are making big waves in the jazz world but they have managed to cross into mainstream audiences. Their music fuses Afro-Cuban, Reggae, hip-Hop, soul and jazz. They fill concert halls and venues and were the first band to fill Wembley area with this style of music. They have won many awards, the mercury prize for Album of the year, MOBO award for best jazz act and just recently they won Group of the Year at the Brit Awards.

The song I’ve chosen is God Gave me Feet for Dancing. Hope you enjoy it ?

Bit of trivia if you watch the video for this song it was recorded in Romford and part of it outside the Golden Lion one of my haunts many moons ago !
