Revd. Dawn has been the vicar of Christ Church and St. Mary the Virgin, both in Warley, since April 2024. She described herself as an ordinary girl from Dagenham who was very happy being a church administrator and never expecting to be ordained. After having been persistently encouraged by other people, she put herself forward for the selection process, strongly expecting to be rejected.  She was accepted, training followed and then a curacy in Broomfield, before becoming the vicar of Christ Church Warley and St Mary the Virgin Great Warley. She described the two churches as being very different. Christ Church is quite informal in worship in a building that has been modernised and developed.   Dawn was very keen to encourage everyone to come along to the Community café that runs every Thursday 9am – 1pm, where there is ample parking.

For more information https://www.christchurchwarley.org.uk

St, Mary’s Great Warley is one of only 3 Art Nouveau style churches in the country, having a more traditional style of worship.  From March to October it is open on Thursdays 1 – 3pm for visitors to see this unique place of worship.

More information from https://stmarygreatwarley.weebly.com

Dawn also encouraged anyone who want to explore Christianity to consider the Chelmsford Diocese course in Christian studies.
