Chris & Bob Waters joy of volunteering
One 2 Three
Patrick Sherring

Chris and Bob both fundraise for Cancer Research and are both on the committee for their local branch. They became involved following Bob’s cancer diagnosis of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 1990.  Apart from making lots of items that are sold on regular stalls, Chris has twice participated in the Race for life. The Harlow group have raised well over £100,000. Chris also volunteers at the Harlow Museum walled gardens. They both agree with Chief Scout  Dwayne Fields who states that volunteering can give a sense of self worth and giving back to the community. Chris is also a member of the Harlow  brass band, a voluntary group. Through this she has seen young people grow in confidence and be empowered by others.
