Pawn broker – possibly!

So at least we’ve now passed the shortest day so every day from now on should be getting just that little bit longer and brighter.

Of course we may yet get some bitterly cold weather, with snow always a risk – but before any of that we have the joyous days of Christmas and the New Year holidays to enjoy!

In the meantime in our never ending efforts to uncover a few stories that will hopefully put a smile on your face, we reported on two stories just in from across the pond.

Our first story involved a policewoman from Colorado who has been forced to resign from her position in the driving academy division of Arapahoe County Sheriff office after it was revealed that she had been moonlighting as a porn star!

You have to feel sorry for her as she became a victim of circumstances.

Problems started after her house suffered storm damage resulting in repairs costing over half a million dollars, which for some reason, the insurance company refused to cover.

Rising interest rates tripled her mortgage, and increasing utility bills and costs for food added to her woes.

After draining her savings and borrowing money from her family, she performed in half a dozen sex scenes which made her enough money to cover the mortgage.

But once news of her sideline reached Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, 44-year old Shannon Lofland was forced to resign the position she’d held for more than 20 years, as she’d failed to inform her employer of her work on the side.

Our second story, whilst not directly connected with the above incident, also involves porn.

It seems that toy giant Mattel is being sued by a mother who says her daughter accessed a porn website via a link on the packaging for a Wicked doll.

The company released dolls of the characters played by British actress Cynthia Erivo and US singer Ariana Grande in the film version of the hit musical.

But rather than featuring an address to the movie’s website, a porn site sharing the name of the movie was mistakenly printed on the packaging.

Holly Ricketson from South Carolina, gave the doll to her daughter who then visited an adult entertainment website through the link, and proceeded to show the hardcore photographs to her mother.

Both said they were “horrified” by what they saw, and claimed to be suffering emotional distress as a result.

The lawsuit is seeking damages of at least US$5m for anyone in the US, who purchased WICKED DOLLS with the error on the packaging.

It seems therefore that anyone in the US who found that the doll they bought was packaged in the original, unamended packaging, could be in for an unexpected and welcome windfall!

Mattel said that sales of the incorrectly packaged doll were immediately halted after the printing error had been spotted, which should have directed customers to the WickedMovie.com page.

At least our website – www.phoenixfm.com – should now be well enough known to avoid any confusion or errors.

Hope to have your company once more tomorrow,
Scott
