Good For The Soul – 15th December – Christmas Present Ideas & Inspo!

This week’s ‘Good For The Soul’ show opened with some big 70s Soul classics, setting the groovy tone for the rest of the evening! We heard from the likes of CHIC, Otis Redding and Billy Ocean, mixed in with two singles released this year. The first was from Michael Kiwanuka’s album Small Changes, five years on since his last work Kiwanuka’s ‘Floating Parade’ is warm and full of 70s inspired soul. The track makes you feel as if you too are floating, with the bassline carrying you through the song, the choir and Kiwanuka’s vocals embracing you as the piano gently tinkers in the background. Everything about this tune, and the whole album, is perfect to me. We also heard new music from The Flirtations, previously known in the early 60s as The Gypsies. The all-female group released a new album, Still Sounds Like The Flirtations, in April this year proving ‘they’ve still got it’. ‘Love Somebody’ found its way onto the playlist this week and what an addition it was! We also talked all things Christmas presents and I gave you some ideas and inspo in case you need any help before the big day.

If you didn’t catch the show you can listen again down below and add any of the songs played to your playlist!
