Anyone for soup dumplings?

Now I ask you would you even consider cycling 37 miles just to buy soup dumplings?

Nevertheless authorities in China say they have been forced to clampdown on a social media trend that has seen thousands of students clogging bike lanes between Zhengzhou and Kaifeng.

The students, nicknamed the NIGHT RIDING ARMY, estimated to number 200,000, have been renting the bikes for about £1.50 per month just to collect the dish known locally as Liu Lulu.

Apparently the students were singing and cheering as they made their way occupying no less than four lanes of cycle track thereby making it almost impossible for pedestrians to use the pavements in the affected areas.

The trend started in June after 4 girls first made the sudden dash from Zhengzhou to collect the dumplings.

The clampdown follows the decision by authorities in Shanghai to ban Halloween celebrations arresting those in costumes, with some using the revelry to make political statements such as dressing up as CCTV cameras and COVID inspectors.

Of course being a Tuesday I was once again joined by Margaret Mills who related the story of a woman from Colchester who rejoiced in the name of IONA OPIE.

Unsurprisingly this was not the name she was born with.

Her original name was Iona Archibald but changed to OPIE after her marriage.

She went on to research the history of nursery rhymes and folklore, becoming a writer in her own right.

Listen here to what Margaret had to told me this afternoon:-

Hope to see you again tomorrow, would you believe?
