Fr. Paul from the C. of E churches St Nicholas and St. Stephens in Ingrave said that is was a shame that people start celebrating Christmas so early. By the time Christmas Day arrives, they are fed up with everything. Sunday 1st of December is Advent Sunday, the start of the time of preparation for Christmas day. Yes of course there are all the practical activities to undertake, but also it should be a time to stop and reflect on life, to consider what really matters. This would include who is really important in your life. Paul recalled that in lockdown we gave thanks for key workers. “Perhaps we should remember to do that again this year.” As an example, Paul suggested leaving a wrapped parcel for the the dustmen. As he said, “we could not manage without them”.
