Is getting a loan a good bet?

Wow, here I am on a Thursday, so it all feels a bit strange.

Never fear I’m only here this week and Roy will be back on parade at this time next week as usual!

For this my bonus show I reported on a man applying for a bank loan.

Nothing too unusual about that of course, but the amount of the loan he was asking for was pretty much “off the scale” and what he intended to use the loan for, also raised a few eyebrows.

The first question they asked was if the loan was for business, to which he answered in the affirmative.

He was then asked how much he wanted – 2 million dollars, he said – for the record that’s about £1.75m.

He then asserted that the money would be an investment which might well benefit the bank, as his aim was to invest the money at the roulette wheel!

At this point he was passed over to a business officer who asked to see some financial statements and tax returns for the business which he was unable to supply since he runs a casino business which doesn’t pay taxes.

Declaring it as a quick turnaround investment, he then revealed that he intended placing the entire $2m loan on black!

Unsurprisingly the business officer declined to consider the loan, only for the prospective borrower to suggest that there was a 50:50 chance of the bank profiting from his potential winnings, although if it didn’t work out the bank would probably never hear from him again!

In he second hour of today’s show I was honoured to be joined by MARK WESLEY who has been deeply involved in a song by MISS DISCO – well for a start he wrote it – that we’ve been playing here on PHOENIX FM since its release last month.

Now if you think you know the name, MARK WESLEY, that’s hardly surprising since Mark is a man of many talents having worked as producer of records, commercials, not to mention being a top DJ on a number of radio stations both “pirate” and mainstream including 10 years at Radio Luxembourg.

Now I was somewhat surprised to learn that MISS DISCO was not a person, as I had believed, but a group who’ve been around for some time.

If you missed what Mark had to tell me about the track, and MISS DISCO themselves, or would just like to listen again, you can do that right here: –

Anyway enough from me for today but very much hope that you will be able to join me once more at my usual time next Monday and look forward to seeing you then,
Scott
