Supporters enjoying the evening at the ball

Supporters enjoyed a spectacular evening at Saint Francis Hospice’s Big Heart Ball as they helped raise over £142,000 for people and families who need compassionate palliative and end of life care.

The black-tie event took place at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Holborn, London on the evening of Friday, 15 November 2024, marking 40 years of hospice care with an unforgettable evening of glamour, entertainment, and fundraising.

“The Big Heart Ball was a true celebration of 40 years of Saint Francis Hospice, and we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our supporters. Every penny raised will make a real difference to the care we provide to people who need us most. Thank you to everyone who helped make this night unforgettable,” said Chief Executive Grazina Berry.

Guests arrived dressed to impress in tuxedos and stunning dresses, ready to celebrate and support the vital work of the hospice. The evening kicked off with the soulful melodies of jazz singer Catherine Lima, setting the tone for the night. Later, attendees were captivated by the mind-reading magic of DNA, the double act made famous by Britain’s Got Talent. The excitement reached new heights as live speed artist Dave Sharp painted a breathtaking portrait of Freddie Mercury in just 10 minutes, leaving the audience in awe.

The evening featured an array of fundraising activities, including a raffle, silent auction, live auction, and a direct appeal to raise funds for a brand-new wet room for the hospice ward. Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone involved, the event raised a phenomenal £142,650, which will directly support hospice care for local people and their loved ones across the community.

Saint Francis Hospice extends heartfelt thanks to the many volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the event a success, as well as to all the guests who attended. A special mention goes to the event’s headline sponsors, Cake Box and Bayanix, whose support was instrumental in achieving this record-breaking total.

The hospice also expresses its gratitude to the many generous sponsors who contributed to the evening’s success, including Aston Group, JJ Sweeney Ltd, NC Range Site, Kilnbridge Willmott Dixon, F Barnes Solicitors, NC Construction, Paragon Customer Communications, Randalls Crane Hire Ltd, The Heartfelt Funeral Co, and Vinci Facilities.
