The tale of an anxious dog that can help children deal with their feelings

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

We welcomed local author Kelly Kennedy to Jo Bailey’s Drive show recently – where she spoke about a different kind of children’s book that she’s recently published.

Here at Phoenix FM we’ve known Kelly for years – I saw her drumming with a band at the Leigh Folk Festival around 20 years ago and persuaded her to come in for a session. She’s still making music, but writing is a new passion for her.

Her new book, Dylan the Anxious Dog, was writtne to help children suffering with anxiety overcome everyday struggles.

On the surface it’s a regular children’s book, but contains hidden messages as to how children can deal with her own feelings.

Kelly has worked with children and also lives with a rescue dog, and is adept in bringing out the full potential of each.

You can hear Kelly’s interview with Jo at phoenixfm.com, and find out more about the books at www.dog-tales-series.co.uk.
