One 2 Three Friday 25.10.24 Rob Saggs CHESS Big sleepout

P H O E N I X   P L A Y E R
Rob Saggs CHESS Big sleepout
One 2 Three
Patrick Sherring

The Big Sleepout is happening on 22nd of November in the grounds of Chelmsford Cathedral. Rob said that by being sponsored to take part in this event, you will experience what it is like to be homeless for one night by sleeping rough in the grounds of the Cathedral. You will be open to the elements at the height of winter and raising much needed funds at the same time. Registration is £10 per person with a minimum fundraising amount of £100. He emphasised that this will be a very safe activity with toilets available.

Rob was also thrilled to share that panning permission has been granted for the building of 24 modular homes for single homeless people. This is on a site of a 9 bed motel previously purchased by CHESS. Once completed, this will increased the accommodation available to 80. Rob spoke of how the system works in an ideal scenario for a person to progress though working with CHESS to independent living.  One of their clients from many years ago is now a teacher.

Rob emphasised that if you are concerned about a homeless person on the street, contact The Streetlink. This will lead to a referral and a visit.
