That’s entertainment – apparently!

Here we are at the start of another working week but what do you do to relax?

Now I don’t know about you but if I take myself off to go to the theatre, the whole idea is to hopefully be entertained but incredibly audiences for an opera in Stuttgart, seemingly got more than they bargained for.

No less than 18 people needed medical attention, in one case before the show even started, whilst 3 people had to be hospitalised.

Others, reportedly suffering from nausea during the boundary-pushing show, had to be comforted by staff at the venue.

However the majority of the opera-goers seemed to have enjoyed the near 3 hour spectacle and responded with tumultuous and rapturous applause as the final bows were taken.

So what’s the fuss all about, you may be wondering?

Well the opera, SANCTA, is based on the controversial 1920s opera Sancta Susanna – the story of a nun who represses her own desires.

The all female cast perform either partly, or fully naked, and the show includes scenes of tattooing, and action paintings with blood mixed with fresh excrement – yuck.

Sounds delightful!

Austrian choreographer Ms Holzinger, 38 confirmed that there are a couple of scenes lasting only a few minutes that might be hard to watch, including one where “a small piece of flesh” is supposedly cut from the back of one of the performers, whilst another includes two performers being “pierced together” so that ropes can be attached to lift them up.

M/s Holzinger added that it was important for her that cast members can both dance and urinate on cue. Charming!

However everything is guaranteed to be presented in THE BEST POSSIBLE TASTE!

Meanwhile over in the good ol’ USofA, comes news of Craig Owens, a sheriff in the US state of Georgia, summoning his deputies to a BURGER KING outlet in Cobb County, because the restaurant had allegedly mixed up the order of a WHOPPER without mayo, he’d placed for his wife.

Deputies raced to the restaurant with their lights flashing, and sirens blaring,  after staff refused to change the order, and then fearing for their safety, locked the door to prevent further entry of the complainant to the establishment.

Sitting in his car the Sheriff Owens, who was not in his uniform at the time of the incident, ordered his men to get the names of all the staff on duty so that he could file an official complaint with the manager.

After the deputies gained access, they duly obtained details of the staff which they passed to the sheriff, confirming that they had not revealed his identity.

However the incident was captured on body cam equipment and has now found its way on to social media courtesy of a Mr Cavender, the man hoping to take over the sheriff’s position in the forthcoming election.

Mr Cavender is suggesting that the action taken by Sherriff Owens was an abuse of power and a waste of police resources.

I may, or may not stop off for a burger on my way home, but in any event hope to have the pleasure of your company at this same time tomorrow,
Scott
