The start of another month – and now it’s all down hill to the colder darker days of winter.
Anyway we started today’s show by looking at the case of a woman who failed to receive the item she’d ordered on line, but got something completely different!
I guess we’ve all placed orders on line only to receive something completely different, but in this case someone made a complete meal of things.
It seems that the woman had placed an order with VINTED, for a top priced at £1, supposedly emblazoned with the slogan, “My husband is 40 and still hot’.
She had been given to understand that her order had been despatched in an envelope, so she was more than a little surprised, when a large box was delivered.
On opening the box she found that instead of the top she’d ordered, the box contained a pre-prepared all day breakfast complete with hash browns and bacon.
It’s unknown if the meal was, like her husband, still hot!
Whatever, she clearly got a better deal than the man who ordered an i-phone, for £850, which he had thought to be a good deal, only to receive printed photo of the phone.
In this case it seems that the seller had been somewhat devious as the original advertisement for the product had the word “photo” inserted in brackets.
Under the description of the product the words ’printed photo” were also inserted in brackets.
Oh dear, I think they might have “been had”!
In the second hour of today’s show, Margaret Mills took us back to an earlier simpler time – well it was in some ways!
The topic chosen by Margaret today, was “CHELMSFORD BRENDA” who it turns out was not a person but a dog – a St Bernard to be precise.
It seems that Chelmsford Brenda was owned by a Mr and Mrs Nathan Smith.
Mr Smith was a dentist based on London Road in Chelmsford and with the agreement of the Red Cross, Chelmsford Brenda was put to work collecting money for the benefit of troops who had been wounded during the first world war.
Over the course of around 3 years she collected over £300.
If you missed what Margaret told me you can listen again here: –
Look forward to having your company again next week,
