You may have heard us playing out Enamorada by Burnzie on recent shows here on Phoenix FM – but who is Burnzie? We caught up with him to find out more about his life and music.
Tell us a little bit about your yourself?
My name is Aaron Burn also known as Burnzie. I am a electronic music producer from a small rural town called Moose Lake in the United States.
When did you first start to develop a passion for music?
I started to develop it when I was about 10 years old when I first joined my school’s band class as a trombonist. It wasn’t until I discovered electronic music at around age 15 when my passion really took off. It was just so interesting to me and it quickly became the music I listened to the most.
Which artists did you listen to while growing up?
Before I started listening to electronic music I listened to a lot of OneRepblic, Queen and heard a lot of ABBA because of my mom. Avicii was the first electronic artist I listened to. Some others I started to listen to later were Cartoon, Jacob Tillberg, Zedd, Alan Walker, Tobu, Dillion Francis, Deaf Kev, and Marshmello.
How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?
I have made many genres but most of the time I make House and Techno music that has dreamy atmospheres with groovy or aggressive sounding basslines.
What music have you recorded and released to date?
I have 29 releases so far, with 28 singles and 1 EP. My most notable releases are “I Fall”, a Tropical House song with some Tech House influence, “Cheater”, a minimal house song with some Deep House influence, “Rose”, another Tropical House song, and my EP “That Feeling I Knew”. It contains a song listed earlier along with 4 other tracks and is named after the final song in the EP.
Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?
I have been listening to a lot of Gorgon City, Mau P, Calibre, Makoto, and Deeper Purpose.
Gorgon City, Mau P and Deeper Purpose have all been influencing me in my recent songs. I’ve really liked making Tech House because of those 3.
Who would your dream collaboration be with?
One day I hope I can remix one of Avicii’s songs. Sadly I can’t collaborate with him directly because he unfortunately passed away 6 years ago.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan on producing more House and Techno music because that’s what I enjoy creating at the moment. I plan on possibly DJing in the future but it’s hard living in a rural area, but you never know!
Where can we find out more about you?
I have a YouTube channel here and you can also find me on Facebook and Twitter.
