Sally Croft told us that when she began her ministry she visited lots of people in their homes. An over-riding theme across the ages was one of loneliness. This including young people working from home to those living with a partner suffering from dementia. She said that the pandemic experience had been one of loneliness. Post pandemic, many people had struggled to return to social activities. Wondering how to address these issues, she saw information from https://www.marmaladetrust.org. This Bristol based charity is seeking to raise awareness of loneliness and empowering people to make connections. Sally’s response has been to open up the church centre at All Saints Spingfield CM1 7HS every Thursday afternoon 2 – 4 pm for people to simply meet and connect with others over tea, coffee and cakes. All Saints Connect has been meeting every Thursday since July. Sally emphasised that the group is aimed at people of any age who are on their own, “don’t be on your own, come and make connections”. For more information about this and other groups at the church, go to https:///www.allsaintsspringfield.org.uk/whats-on
More information about the Marmalade Trust, loneliness and how this might be addressed are on the charity’s website.
