Now I pose this question sincerely having just learnt that a school worker has just been found guilty of nicking a load of chicken wings – but quite a lot of them in fact as they’ve been valued at over £1m!
What on earth did she do with them all, that’s what I’d like to know?
68-year old Vera Liddell who had been head of the food service department for Harvey School District in Chicago, Illinois launched her operation when schools were closed during the COVID pandemic.
Although schools were closed the department responsible for school meals continued to send out supplies which were intended to be delivered to the pupils who were learning remotely.
The pupils never saw or received any of the nosh, which Vera nicked over a period of almost 2 years by using a school van to collect the supplies.
Vera’s criminal activities came to light, after the business manager for the district noted that the annual food district’s budget had been exceeded by over $300,000!
A subsequent closer examination of the invoices also revealed that the food involved wouldn’t normally be offered to students due to fact that they contained bones.
She has now been sentenced to 9 years behind bars, although extraordinarily a star player of the Kansas City Chiefs has offered to pay for the stolen food in exchange for Vera’s release from prison. Wonder why he would do that – perhaps he has a hankering for chicken wings!
Leaving the USA behind and skipping over to Norway we heard about a man sitting on the loo – minding his own business quite literally, when out of the blue a shot rang out only for the resultant bullet to hit him in the abdomen!
This was the unexpected fate of a 70-year old man enjoying a break in a holiday home on the island of VESTEROV, Norway.
The incident was all down to a wayward shot from a moose hunter who didn’t even wing the moose that took flight uninjured!
Thankfully the the injuries suffered by the man sitting on the loo are not thought to be life threatening although he did have to be airlifted to a hospital in Oslo for treatment.
Although his wife is naturally upset by the incident, and being taken care of by the police and her family, she says she does not hold a grudge against the hunter.
The police have used the incident to remind hunters that they are always responsible for ensuring the background is clear when a shot is fired and everyone should understand that what happened here should not happen.
So let that be a lesson tom us all!
Assuming I don’t run into any similar incidents between now and tomorrow, I hope to have your company at this same time tomorrow,
Scott
