CAFÉ ART – Brentwood’s Creative Sensory Art Exhibition

Frontline’s CAFÉ ART Exhibition is back at Brentwood Library for its fourth year.

The concept of the CAFÉ ART group is to give opportunities to participants to enjoy the art-making process. It is a sensory exercise aimed at promoting motor and visual stimulation. It is about being able to create individually or with the interaction and assistance from a support worker.

Irene Malvezi, Artist and Art Psychotherapist, who delivers the art sessions at CAFÉ ART says there has been a big shift over the past year, with participants being much more confident to express their creativity without much guidance, which adds to their personal skills in making their own decisions in life without so much anxiety, which is liberating.

You can hear Irene talk to Jo Rayment, Frontline’s Chief Operations Officer, who talks about the charity and exhibition, and also to some of this year’s exhibition’s participants – Toni, Kay, Penny and Luke – about their artwork too.

Jo Rayment, Frontline’s Manager, says:

People would need go to the London Galleries to see something as good as our exhibition. This exhibition provides more than beautiful artwork, it gives the artists confidence, knowing that others are enjoying their art.

We welcome people with a learning disability. Participants are able to create artworks through simple techniques such as collage, dabbing, mixing colours, drawing and painting.

We are also fortunate to have fabulous volunteers who bring their skills to the group.

The Sensory Art Spectacular – Art Exhibition from Frontline’s CAFÉ ART aims to promote participants’ confidence and appreciation for all they can do.

The exhibition is on until 31 August 2024 at Brentwood Library. It’s a FREE event and most artworks are for sale; the proceeds from these sales will go to the Artists and Frontline.

If you would like more information about CAFÉ ART, please call FRONTLINE: 07511 824170 – www.frontlinepartnership.org.
