Very unusual cakes and a hospital appointment

Well first off it’s really good to be back and I must express my thanks to those who deputised for me whilst I was incarcerated (AGAIN) in hospital.

Anyway we had two hospital connected stories – the first one quite loosely as it concerned a pop-up cake shop offering some very unusual delicacies.

The “EAT YOUR HEART OUT’ emporium created a range of cakes featuring realistic wounds, stitches and even chocolate hacked-off body parts.

Offerings included an interactive maggot extraction cupcake, which allows for mango flavoured maggots and puss to be removed with tweezers prior to eating.

These maggot extraction beauties from Twisted Fondant are thought to be destined to be a smash hit especially as they come with tweezers, gloves and all you need to freak out your friends.

The unusual cake shop was based The Rag Factory in London’s Brick Lane, but whether it’s still there is unclear.

Maybe just looking at their offerings would result in a hospital stay!

Meanwhile from China news has emerged of a family who are now in serious trouble after they tricked an ambulance crew into taking a seriously ill man to a bank to re-set his password.

The man’s wife Li, 65, had been using the bank account while critically ill Xu Wanfan, 75, was in a hospital in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, in the intensive care ward.

But she forgot the password (what a pain those passwords are, eh!) and after typing it in three times incorrectly the account was locked – and the bank refused to unlock it unless the man himself turned up to sign to say that it was okay.

Because he was too ill to take a taxi the family told the hospital that they wanted to take him home to die and arranged for him to be moved in an ambulance, but once they passed the bank they asked the ambulance screw to stop and he was wheeled into the bank on a stretcher to arrange for the passwords to be reset.

Once back in the ambulance, the family said they had changed their mind and asked the ambulance crew to take the sick man back to hospital.

The hospital is now considering charging the family for the improper use of the ambulance but the family say the bank should pay the cost of treating them in such a bad way and refusing access to the man’s pension fund which was used to pay the rest of the family bills.

Li said: “We didn’t even have enough money to pay the rent or buy food, what else are we to do?”

Needs must, I suppose!

Hope to see you again tomorrow,
Scott
