Curveballs 12th June 2024 (with 035 Promotions, Concrete Age, Modes & Destroy The Idols)

Tonight we chatted to 3 of the bands playing the latest 035 Promotions gig, this time at Chinnerys in Southend on June 14th. After an introduction from chief organiser Tranunki who chatted to us while out shopping in Romford, it was time to hear from the bands!

First up we heard from Will from the gig openers, Destroy The Idols. This Essex foursome have more of a punk sound than others on the bill and recently released their first EP The Gunn, from which we heard the opening track. Find Destroy The Idols on Hyperfollow.

Next up was another newcomer to both 035 and Phoenix FM – Modes. Jack and Scott from the band joined us, and once we’d got past Scott’s very pretty garden in the background, we heard more about the Kent trio (now quartet)’s single Deep Down, and what they have in store for the summer. Stay updated at modesband.co.uk.

Finally we heard from Ilia, frontman with the headliners Concrete Age. As we found out, you’re never totally sure what to expect from a Concrete Age gig as they could turn up with any manner of instruments (including some you may never have heard of!) and have influences from all over the world to match. Find Concrete Age links and updates at concreteage.co.uk.
