A Bum deal!

On today’s programme we reported on the man who tried to smuggle a pair of scissors into a jail in Indiana, by concealing them up his anus!

The lengths that some people will go to defies belief.

Yes the unidentified man taken to jail in Indiana was found to be attempting to smuggle the contraband item into the prison.

After refusing to co-operate during a routine search, he reluctantly agreed to an electronic body scan at which point, the jail’s assistant commander of operations, Lieutenant Jeff Holt, ‘observed what appeared to be a foreign object inside the anal cavity of the arrestee.’

In spite of some resistance a second scan found the object had moved slightly and was identified – as an eight-and-a-half inch long pair of scissors, which were subsequently removed without incident.

He was presumably trying to get his jail term cut although it can’t have been comfortable!

Since the body scanner was first introduced in 2017, it has uncovered an amazing assortment of items ranging from tattoo equipment, drugs, and ‘paraphernalia’ – whatever that might entail.

Of course, being a Tuesday I was joined once again by Margaret Mills who took us to a far more comfortable venue than the local jailhouse – Chichester Hall in Wickford no less – which is now a hotel and dining establishment but in the 13th century it was the home of the Norman knight, Sir John de Chichestre. So his name now lives on as a top notch function complex.

Listen again here to what Margaret told me today about this location: –

I look forward to having your company again next week,
Scott
