Ex-Billericay Town cult hero Sam Deering has joined Brentwood Town.
The experienced midfielder arrived for the Blues after leaving Bishop’s Stortford in the summer, making 16 Isthmian Premier Division appearances last term.
Deering became a key figure at Billericay during Glenn Tamplin’s time in charge of the club, making 80 appearances in a one and a half-year spell at New Lodge.
He impressed and subsequently earned a move to Vanarama National League outfit Dagenham & Redbridge.
After two seasons of not featuring regularly at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, the 32-year-old signed for Farnborough where he helped them seal promotion from the Isthmian Southern Premier Division.
His next destination was Bishop’s Stortford in February where he secured another promotion, the fifth of his career.
Deering’s arrival at the Brentwood Centre Arena may come as a surprise to a few, owing to his outstanding on-the-ball qualities.
Brentwood’s Isthmian North Division campaign starts tomorrow as they visit Bury Town.
