On today’s show we reported on the pensioner living near Crystal Palace who became trapped in her flat after a delivery driver lodged a parcel, that wasn’t even for her, under her door handle.
Neighbours alerted by her cries found the parcel wedged in such a way that she was unable to get out of her flat, which could, of course, have proved very dangerous.
Not surprisingly the elderly occupant of the flat, DEE CLARKE, was in quite a panic when she found that the door handle wouldn’t move. She didn’t know what was wrong with the door because the handle was moving a little bit.
What made matters even worse was that the offending parcel was for a completely different postcode.
The delivery firm has since apologised and launched an investigation into the incident.
The subject of today’s feature chosen by Margaret Mills, was of a Tiptree based farming entrepreneur by the name of John Mechi.
As you might have guessed with a name like that, he was actually of Italian parentage although born in London.
He had an interesting life being a banker, inventor, silversmith, farmer as well as an Alderman of London!
If you missed what Margaret told me you can listen again here: –
Hope to see you again next week,
