Is there still life in this body?

Incredibly we learnt today about the Belgian Belgian TikToker, David Baerten, 45, and his wife and children decided to prank friends and family members to find out what they really thought him by faking his death and then turning up at his own funeral by helicopter!

To spread the news of Mr Baerten’s death, one of his children took to social media and wrote a tribute to her father.

She wrote: “Rest in peace Daddy. I will never stop thinking about you.

“Why is life so unfair? Why you? You were going to be a grandfather, and you still had your whole life ahead of you.

“I love you! We love you! We will never forget you.”

The funeral, which was staged last weekend near the city of Liege, was attended by many friends and family members dressed in black.

Everyone was waiting for the ceremony to begin when the helicopter landed. And out stepped Mr Baerten accompanied by a camera crew.

Some of Mr Baerten’s family and friends ran up to him amid emotional exchanges, while others remain confused and perplexed in the car park.

Speaking later, Mr Baerten said he wanted to see how his wider family would react as he felt “underappreciated” by them. “I never get invited to anything. Nobody sees me. We all grew apart. I felt unappreciated and wanted to show them that you shouldn’t wait until someone is dead to meet up with them.”

He now claims that since staging this stunt, some family members have reached out to him.

Well I’m not sure quite how I’d react but I don’t think he’d be back on my Christmas card list.

Being a Tuesday I was joined in the second hour of today’s show by Margaret Mills who told us about the rather unsuccessful first appearance of the missionary Dr David Livingstone at a church in Stamford Rivers near Ongar.

It seems that after forgetting what he was scheduled to preach about, “he did a runner”.

Listen to the full report here from Margaret in her own words: –

Hope to see you again next week,
Scott
