In a shock move at Bridge Avenue, prolific Hornchurch forward Liam Nash has signed for Gibraltar side FCB Magpies on a four-week loan.

The move enables the 28-year-old to play in the preliminary rounds of the UEFA Europa Conference League for FCB Magpies.

Nash netted on 21 occasions in the Isthmian Premier Division last season as Hornchurch narrowly missed out on promotion after a play-off final defeat to Aveley.

Following his move to the sun-soaked British territory, Nash thanked the Chairman and manager for sanctioning the move, on the club’s website.

‘It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for me so I spoke to the Chairman and Steve Morison who were both supportive of me playing, which I appreciate.’

The former Gillingham man will return for the Urchins’ pre-season and could make a return in their pre-season fixture against Braintree Town on 25th July.

On this matter, he stated: ‘I look forward to returning for the end of the Urchins pre-season, hopefully a better player for the experience.’

New manager, Steve Morison, who was previously manager of EFL Championship outfit Cardiff City, said they had to give Nash the opportunity.

‘We felt we had to let Nash take part in this fantastic experience of playing in the Europa Conference League. We hope he will have some great experiences, play well and stay injury free.’

FCB Magpies, who finished third in the Gibraltar top-flight, will enter the Conference League at the first qualifying round stage.
