HOT BOX – Fatboy Slim, Frank Turner & Echo Belly Help to Keep this Essex Music Venue Open

Hotbox is a music venue I really love. Based in Chelmsford, the venue is owned by Dave Hughes, who is a true music lover. There is a bar, (including specialist whisky), a cool looking stage, sound engineering booth (the sound is incredible in this venue on stage and out to the audience). Hotbox has hosted gigs from local bands, charities, private parties to the excellent Frank Turner (who is playing a fundraiser for Hotbox June). Its an unique live music venue and so much more.

Dave talks passionately about music, the venue, the state of the current music industry, how important smaller venues like his are needed and the amazing support he has received.

The venue STILL needs support. Running a music venue is not for the faint hearted.

Dave talked about an idea for the bigger music venues like the O2 to help the local music venues. From their tickets sales £1.00 which would go into a pot for music venues across the UK. If you think some tickets to see the bigger bands can sometimes be hundreds of pounds, this seems like a great idea. Its keeping venues alive across the UK giving opportunities to all musicians to play and be heard. Keeping music venues local and open to all, not everyone can afford to go to London to see a band in the bigger venues.

Popping into the studio with Dave was Emjay Media, Martin Jeffries. Martin has helped so many artists over the years with arranging gigs and interviews for Phoenix FM. Thank you Martin you do so much to promote new music in Essex.
