We’ve been playing out Dead Friends by Quizy VVS on the station recently – and we had a chat with Quizy to find our more about his life and music.
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m from Woodside – Queens, New York City.
What’s your attitude towards music and writing?
I take my craft very seriously because my craft is unique. I will forever do music – music has been my life. My cousin LongLive Runny Ray ran with Run-DMC before I came off the porch, you know!
Have you been involved in music from an early age?
I’ve done talent shows for SONY at the age of 11, but I ran the streets a lot, and had legal setbacks.
How would you describe your sound?
Go stream my music – it’s for everybody, if you wanna dance, you can dance, but I’m very unique and versatile, I like to say I’m bringing it back, bringing hiphop music back with a whole new sound never heard before.
Who have your influences been?
Even though I’m influenced by artists like 50 Cent, Jadakiss, Lloyd Banks, Nas, Fabolous, Stack Bundles, Gucci Mane, Jeezy, Ludacris and future growing up I have my own sound.
Tell us about your latest release?
My latest release to all platforms is called IG, released May 3, 2023. Hearing this song you can hear my creativity along with a shot of autotune! Future is an artist I can say definitely influenced me to use autotune because I use to be against using autotune but thanks to Future I’ve gotten comfortable with it, especially because I listen to him often as well as other artists like Babyface Ray, Lil Baby, Bigx theplug, Icewear Vezzoand Fivio foreign.
Who would you like to collaborate with?
My dream collaboration would be Jadakiss.
What other projects do you have planned?
I recently started a new independent label called Bringitbac entertainment! so the plan is to expand with more new unique sounds and entertainment ONLY! Albums, acting, mixtapes, videos, shows, and more! Look out for the first ep of mines called #Theformula!
