You may have heard us playing out Charlize Anne’s recent collaboration with Annakin Slayd, Perfectly Me – and we caught up with her to find out a little bit more about her life and music.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m a singer/songwriter from Montreal. I began my singing career at the age of 6, when I found my love for singing in my primary school’s choir.

During high school I fronted a pop rock band. I have performed the national anthem for hockey games alongside my twin sister, Rochelle, as well as performing for the elderly.

What have you released to date?

My debut single, “Karma” is from my debut E.P “From A Loved One”, recorded at Uplift Studios and produced by Kevin Jardine (Slaves on Dope, Run DMC) – this was released October 5, 2022.

My second single entitled “Playboy” was released on February 5. Perfectly Me, my third single which features the rap stylings of Montreal’s own Annakin Slayd was released on May 5.

Which artists did you listen to growing up?

I have a very wide range of artists and music genres that I listen to. Some of my favourites artists include, Beyonce, Evanescence, Pitbull, Little Mix, Panic! At the disco, just to name a few. I’m also a sucker for a good musical soundtrack.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

Post Malone, Miley Cyrus (100%), The Weeknd.

What are your plans for the future?

I’d love to be able to tour and put out as much music as I can. I’d also like to find a way to integrate some pole dancing and burlesque into my performances.

Who do you enjoy listening to these days?

I honestly don’t have any specific artist that I listen to. Music is very emotional to me, it helps me process what im feeling and makes me feel safe and secure and understood. My hopes are that someday I can bring people the same comfort with my music that I’ve gotten from music in the past.
