Games were held on Good Friday and Easter Saturday, here is how our Essex sides got on.

Vanarama National League

Southend United boosted their play-off chances in a 2-0 win over already-relegated Maidstone United at Roots Hall. Dagenham & Redbridge also picked up an impressive result, a 1-0 away victory to Boreham Wood courtesy of Inih Effiong’s goal on the 13-minute mark.

Vanarama National League South

Chelmsford City beat Farnborough 3-2 at the Melbourne Stadium and Braintree Town also won with a 2-0 victory at St. Albans City.

Concord Rangers’ season went from bad to worse with a 7-0 defeat to Worthing. It was certainly an afternoon to forget for the Beach Boys who face a tough task of remaining in the division.

Isthmian Premier Division

Hornchurch secured a vital victory in their push for promotion with a 1-0 win over Billericay Town. Liam Nash’s first-half strike was enough to ensure three points. Canvey Island also picked up an important win in the title race, with a 4-1 win at Kingstonian.

Despite their wins, Aveley were unable to keep up with their title rivals after a 1-0 defeat to Bishop’s Stortford. Also, Bowers & Pitsea fell to a 4-0 home defeat to Bognor Regis Town.

Isthmian North Division

Hashtag United continued their march towards promotion with a 3-0 win over Gorleston. Heybridge Swifts moved up to fourth place with a 2-1 victory over Stowmarket Town, while Coggeshall Town lost 2-0 to Wroxham.

Elsewhere, Grays Athletic beat fellow Essex outfit Great Wakering Rovers 2-1 and East Thurrock United shared the spoils with New Salamis. Brentwood Town thrashed Hullbridge Sports by five goals to one, helped by a Ross Wall hat-trick.

Basildon United came close to completing an extraordinary comeback at Gardiners Close against Lowestoft Town. However, despite Ben Allen and Callum Fitzer’s second-half goals, the visitors went home with the points.

Maldon & Tiptree faced AFC Sudbury, but the latter came out on top in a 3-0 win following a Nnamdi Nwachuku hat-trick.

Southern League Division One Central

Walthamstow travelled to Highworth Town and secured a 3-2 win but Waltham Abbey lost 1-0 to Aylesbury United.
