One 2 Three Good Friday 2023. Easter special with Paul Carr.

Good Friday 2023. Easter special with Paul Carr.
One 2 Three
Patrick Sherring

Revd. Paul Carr from Emmanuel Church Billericay shared reflections about Good Friday and Easter day. He also chose a piece of music to go with each reflection. For Good Friday he chose a track by Lionel Richie. He told a story of a successful Lionel buying his father a large present. As an excited father unwrapped the present he realised each time he opened a box their was another smaller one inside. This continued until he got to the final gift, an envelope containing a small piece of paper. On it were written the words ‘debt paid’. Lionel had paid off every single debt his father owed, including a car loan and a mortgage. His father was astounded. Revd. Paul’s point was that on Good Friday, the actions of Jesus paid all our debts.  For Easter Day he chose the track ‘free’. For Revd. Paul this represents the resurrection of Jesus setting us free for fear to enjoy the gift of life in all its fullness.
