You may have heard us playing Free Your Mind by BP Jules & The Missing Band recently on air – but who is BP Jules?  We caught up with him to find out …

Tell us a little bit about your yourself?

I do songwriting and music production and I was born in Zurich in the early 1980s. I graduated from high school in music and Latin, among other things, and played as a drummer in a big band.

I later deepened my knowledge of music at a music school in Zurich. My musical style is influenced by various music genres, mainly from the 1980s and 1990s.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

For as long as I can remember. As a little kid I built my own drum kit and played around with it.

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

Among others Def Leppard, H-Blockx, AC/DC, Kiss, ZZ Top, Magnum, Metallica, Yello, Die Fantastischen Vier, DJ Bobo, Ace of Base, Eurodance in general.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?

Very versatile.

What music have you recorded and released to date?

So far mainly songs from the EDM genre. These include “Free Your Mind”, “Welcome” and “Back To The Techno”. There are different versions of this, also instrumental ones, as some of these could also be very suitable for fitness classes.

Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?

Still various artists mostly from the 1980s & 1990s such as Def Leppard, AC/DC, H-Blockx, Beastie Boys, The Prodigy, Faithless, Huey Lewis & The News, Ugly Kid Joe, Robert Palmer & UB40 but also Elvis Presley and Shakin’ Stevens. And yes they do influence my work.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

Def Leppard and H-Blockx.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m working on an album called “Make Your Choice” which will mainly contain motivational songs from different genres. And of course I would be very happy if you follow me on Spotify! 😊
