Steve Mackey on stage with Pulp, Reading Festival, 27 August 2011
Very sad to hear of the untimely death of Steve Mackey, bass player from Pulp. They’re a band whose music has never left me since I first heard Babies in 1993.
Very sad to learn of the passing of Lee Andrews too. Lee was the drummer with countless local bands, including Bif Bam Pow and The Shopkeeper Appeared, who I saw live at the Pink Toothbrush in 1992 supporting The Sultans of Ping FC and a little known band called Radiohead.
Tonight’s show has a tribute to both artists.
