Saturday afternoon’s sporting events were greatly reduced by the freezing weather conditions, which caused postponements in football, Rugby and Horse Racing, but I still found much action to report.

In football’s Premier League, West Ham United and their under-pressure manager David Moyes finally secured three points following a run of seven league matches without a win – including six defeats – as they beat fellow strugglers Everton 2-0 at the London Stadium, Jarrod Bowen’s first half brace taking the Hammers out of the relegation zone.

Their East London neighbours Leyton Orient didn’t have such a successful afternoon.

The EFL League Two leaders travelled to second placed Stevenage in the fourth tier’s match of the day, and the home side picked up a comfortable 3-0 victory to narrow the points gap between the clubs to just two.

The O’s also finished the match with 10 men following Idris El Mizouni’s dismissal just before half-time, the Ipswich Town loanee receiving a second yellow card for handball.

In our featured non-League match Billericay Town enjoyed a prolific afternoon at New Lodge, as a 5-1 win at home to Kingstonian took Dan Brown’s men up to seventh place in the Isthmian Premier League.
