Happy New Year – how about a new job?

We learnt today about a new job on offer and about what one man has done to increase his income.

Well back in November 2019, 25-year old Curtis Gibbs from Wolverhampton threw in his £1300 a month job working in supermarkets, and now claims to be making up to £22,000 a month by selling burps in a jar and sending people his unwashed socks, underwear, old trainers and even his used bath water!

His first foray into satisfying people’s fetishes came about in 2018 but Curtis says that at first he didn’t take things seriously until the following year when, having maxed out his credit cards, and being £5000 in debt, he decided a change in direction was called for.

His first task was to establish a unique selling point that would set him apart from other content creators and find his own niche.

He now says the list of satisfying strange requests is endless.

One guy wanted him to gulp down a bottle of Coke, burp into a jar, seal it and post it to him.

Since then he has seen a huge increase in the list of his subscribers and has even fitted out his spare bedroom as a studio dedicated to his craft.

He says he now goes on expensive holidays, wears designer clothes and works (if you can call what he does as work) only when he wants to.

No worries about cost of living increases there then!

But if that’s not for you, how about applying for the post of DIRECTOR OF RODENT MITIGATION?

That’s the official job title of a role being offered in New York City, paying the equivalent of between £97,700 and £138,430 pa.

The administration of Mayor Eric Adams is currently looking for someone to lead the city’s battle against rats.

The ideal candidate has been described as someone who is “highly motivated and somewhat bloodthirsty, determined to look at all solutions from various angles, including improving operational efficiency, data collection, technology innovation, trash management, and wholesale slaughter.”

New York City has been trying to control its rodent population for generations, with sightings of rats in parks and on the streets recently increasing having survived a multimillion-dollar effort under former mayor Bill de Blasio, which introduced more rubbish pickups and better housing inspections in targeted neighbourhoods.

The city also used dry ice to suffocate rats in their hiding spots.

When he was borough president of Brooklyn, Mayor Adams once demonstrated a trap which used a bucket filled with a toxic soup to drown rats lured by the scent of food.

So now, his administration is looking for someone to become the public face of the city’s eradication and education efforts.

“Cunning, voracious, and prolific, New York City’s rats are legendary for their survival skills, but they don’t run this city – we do,” the posting adds.

Applicants are expected to have good communication skills, a keen sense of humour and “to lead from the front, using hands-on techniques to exterminate rodents with authority and efficiency”.

So there you go!

If you’re interested in working abroad in “THE BIG APPLE” that job might be right up your street.

Hope to have your company again tomorrow,
Scott
