You may have heard us playing Love Like Yours And Mine by MAJIC on air recently. We caught up with MAJIC to find out more about their life and music.

Tell us a little bit about your yourself?

MAJIC is Wil J Hair on guitars, Randy Paine on drums and Dave Annan on vocals.

When did you first start to develop a passion for music?

From very early, music satiated our lives, ignited a fire, and set us on our paths.

Which artists did you listen to while growing up?

We all have our personal influences, as it relates to our respective roles. Randy: Neil Peart. Steve Smith, Scott Rockenfield. Wil J Hair: Ygnwie Malmsteen, Eddie, Van Halen, Warren D’ Martin. Dave would say: Steve Perry, Robert Plant, Geoff Tate, Sam Cooke. At the heart of it, they all have a different perspective, mostly from the same era.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?

Alt Hard Rock.

What music have you recorded and released to date?

We have just released our first body of work, The Room, 11.25.2022. We had written and recorded a couple of tracks in 2014.

Which artists do you enjoy listening to at the moment – and do they influence your work?

Speaking as Dave, Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Greta Van Fleet, Royal Blood. Probably on some subconscious level, maybe an arrangement, or something that caught your attention in the progression or melody. Something fresh, a reinterpretation of something familiar.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

Dio, unfortunately, has been postponed. Although, I did get to meet him on a few occasions. I would say for me, Dave, Neil Schon, Steve Perry, Rolie, or J Cain. Journey was a big part of growing up, and their early catalogue had more of the blues and fusion. Of course, the legends, John Paul Jones, Page, Plant.

What are your plans for the future?

We will get back to writing, performing, and do more MAJIC.

Where can we find out more about you?
