In the second hour of today’s programme we heard about the man who has just been awarded a parking ticket because the shadow of his car encroached on a space reserved for disabled drivers!

Matthew Cole was more than a little surprised to receive the £65 fine from Lewisham Council. The council kindly supplied a picture of his car safely parked in an unmarked bay next to the disabled slot, into which the shadow of his car had been cast.

Not surprisingly he appealed the fine, only for it to be rejected, with the council sticking to their guns, that his vehicle had been parked in a spot reserved for disabled badge drivers.

After he submitted a further complaint, the council eventually relented and now plan to review the bays in question and install new signage though quite how that will change things remains in the shadows!
