Jack puts the accent on talent during studio visit

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

We had another great musical guest in the studio at the weekend with a visit from talented soul/funk singer and pianist Jack Tyson Charles.

Jack visited our Saturday breakfast show, Sunrise Sessions, to talk to host Halana Roma Palmer about his music and collaborations with other musicians and producers, including Danny Kane who has worked with UB40, All Saints and Massive Attack.

If Jack looks familiar it’s possibly because has very famous parents – BAFTA-award winning actress Cathy Tyson and comedian, actor and DJ Craig Charles. As a Red Dwarf fan I’ve spent many hours listening to his dad’s Liverpool accent on TV and I wasn’t expecting to hear Jack’s strong London tones!

Jack is a great talent in his own right and you can hear him again at phoenixfm.com as well as at smarturl.it/jtc-anotherday.

* We’ve got lots of great guests coming up in the next week on air, including Essex band Vix20 and Polish rock band Snakedoctors who will be chatting to Michelle Ward, and local singer/songwriter Roisin O’Hagan who will be playing live in the studio on Under The Radar; Patrick Sherring will be talking to Ingatestone resident Gill Beech about her memories of living in the 1950s.

* Sadly my marathon walk in aid of Saint Francis Hospice is at an end – I picked up a muscle injury in the Scottish highlands near Tyndrum, and had to hobble back on the bus and train to Essex. I managed to walk 707 miles and we raised £5,000 in aid of Saint Francis Hospice – there’s still time to donate at www.justgiving.com/golder.
