This week, we hit show 150 and we have a special treat for you, a wonderful chat with our special guest Henry Blofeld, better know to everyone as “Blowers”. He is embarking on a nation-wide tour “My Dear Old Things” and ahead of his visit to the Queens Theatre in Hornchurch, we spoke to the legend of the microphone at his home in Norfolk. He tells us about spending time at Ian Fleming’s house “Goldeneye” in Jamaica and how his family name got enshrined in Bond history. He recalls entering the BBC TMS commentary box alongside John Arlott, Brian Johnston and Fred Trueman, then in later years being taught by Shane Warne how to drink Jaegerbombs and being stranded naked in a hotel lobby in Nottingham, with only a paper dolly to preserve his modesty.
If you want to catch Blowers in the flesh, he will be coming to a theatre near you in the near future, tickets are available here:
As the County Championship pauses, we take a look at the standings and report as the Vitality Blast gets underway, with the defending champions Kent suffering an early defeat. And with the first Test just a week away, we assess England’s chances with an ever depleting bowling attack against World Test Champions New Zealand.
We also run through last weekend’s matches in the Hamro Foundation Essex Premier League.

Zhane – Groove Thang
The Beat – “Mirror in the Bathroom”
