Trigger warning: This story deals with suicide so may be triggering for anyone who is struggling with their mental health or suicidal thoughts.
Andy’s Man Club offer men peer to peer talking groups, it’s a UK charity with over 100 groups taking place every Monday night (except Bank Holidays) across the country between 7pm and 9pm. A new group has just started up in Basildon. Details below.
If you had told Darren Smith on October 27, 2020, that he would be sat speaking about his feelings and how he helps others nearly two years down the line, he would never have believed you.
That’s because on that day in October, Darren attempted to take his life.

Darren Smith
Well I’m pleased to say that Darren seems to be in a much better place now and he came into Phoenix today to tell us about his journey and how Andy’s Man club has helped him.
In the interview Darren talks about his mental health journey including a failed suicide attempt which can be difficult listening at times but is ultimately uplifting. My sincere thanks to Darren for his courage and candour in telling us the story.
