BOOK CLUB – MAY with Sylvia Kent & Guest Writer, Sam Scott

Local writer, Sam Scott was our BOOK CLUB guest today. Sam is a go getter who woke up on her 40th Birthday and decided that year she would run a marathon and write her first book, she completed both!

ABOUT SAM

One question I did ask myself at the beginning of my journey and I assume it’s the question that all authors ask themselves at some stage is, ‘Can I write?’  And I am delighted to say that, according to others, the answer seems to be a resounding, Yes!

I often refer to writing like a condition or affliction.  There is no getting away from it.  It is like a monster that has been unleashed and the desire for me to write has become all consuming.

Since my first book, SOPHIE SPIRIT AND THE BATTING MANOR, was released last summer, I can honestly say I had no idea what to expect or how busy I would be.  It began in August with a local book launch where I was able to welcome friends, family and all who had helped to bring Sophie Spirit into the world.  It was the first time I was able to stock of what was happening and actually feel like an author, and it was a great pleasure to share that feeling with everyone.

From there things have continued to look bright.  My second children’s book called SAVING SHRIN GALA, was released last month and SOPHIE SPIRIT AND THE TOWER OF LONDON TREASURE will be released next month, with the third and final instalment of that trilogy in Spring 2023.  I am also about to sign a deal with a new publisher to release a teenage horror story, HOUSE OF A HUNDRED DOORS, which will be released in January 2023, and if I am very fortunate that may lead to some of the other manuscripts gathering dust in my study being released onto the world.

But for now I will continue to work hard, travelling around, giving readings and talks, spreading the word about my books and encouraging children, and of course adults, wherever I go, to pick up a book and read.
