Thomas Morgan – Working with Phoenix FM

Around this time of year Phoenix FM opens it’s doors to students on work experience.
The first of the bunch this year is Thomas Morgan.

Thomas Morgan

We normally ask our visiting students to write about their experience here at Phoenix. Here is what Tom wrote –

“Hi I’m Thomas Morgan and I have been doing work experience for two weeks at Phoenix FM. I have really enjoyed my time here as I have learned lots of new skills and enjoyed all the great tunes.

All of the presenters have been very friendly and welcoming to me and really helped me through the work experience. At the start of the work experience I was very shy on air however I overcame this and have become much more confident in myself and on the air.

I have learned a very key point in life and that is if you keep practising you will get better and better at things in everything you do. I was able to play a few songs that I liked which was nice touch. All of the presenters got me involved in their shows which was very much fun and I got to experience lots of different presenters.

I also presented a quiz on Stewart’s show which was very fun as I was doing all of the effects and played into the next song. I have learned how to go to the news and how it’s done. I also presented the weather and events.

Me and Stewart have been pushing mental health as it’s mental health week. We have done this on the show this week as it is very important to talk about this subject and let people know. I also learned a lot about the technical bits of radio to make everything sounds much better on the FM! Overall this has been very eye opening and thoroughly recommend it.

Thank you Phoenix FM for the experience.”

Well thank you Tom. It was great to meet you!

Tom helped me out on my show by taking the helm for half an hour and presenting on his own. We called it “Tom’s Takeover” and you can listen to it here –
